Purpose of the Role
The Officer Payroll ensures seamless payroll administration by handling data entry, payroll processing, and compliance with legislative requirements. You will serve as a point of contact for payroll-related queries while maintaining the integrity of the payroll system and its data.
Key Responsibilities of an Officer Payroll
1. Accurate Data Entry and Payroll Processing
- Record and manage daily and monthly employee information, including overtime, allowances, bonuses, and absenteeism for three separate payrolls.
- Input data for new hires into the SAP HR/PY system to ensure proper integration into payroll processes.
- Process termination payroll for retirements, resignations, and dismissals.
2. Third-Party Payments and Deductions
- Administer payments for third-party deductions, including loans, medical aid contributions, garnishee orders, and pension funds.
- Update employee master data, such as address and banking details, ensuring the accuracy of payroll records.
3. Special Payroll Processing
- Oversee payroll for insourced employees paid via the City of Johannesburg payroll system.
- Handle adjustments, recalls, and rejections of payroll payments, including housing bonds and salary amendments.
4. Collaboration and Communication
- Liaise with medical aid providers and financial institutions to ensure timely and accurate transactions.
- Provide employment verifications and process reference checks for financial institutions.
- Address and resolve employee payroll queries promptly and accurately.
5. Compliance and Reporting
- Calculate termination pay and process SARS tax directives for departing employees.
- Maintain accurate physical and electronic payroll documentation.
- Adhere strictly to relevant laws, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance at all times.
Job Requirements
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Matric (NQF Level 4) with Mathematics.
- Experience: A minimum of two years in SAP payroll administration and third-party payment processing.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using SAP HR/PY systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
